Data Loss!

Wow. A day or so ago (how long has it been now?) I made some changes to my database, and well... hosed all my data. I have been neglecting this site for a while and it took me a few days to even notice I had done this. How sad. Shame on me.

Sadly, the data is just plain gone. No backups. Double shame on me. A solid backup scheme was something I had been planning on, but just hadn't got to it yet. I might be able to recreate some of the data from Google's cache, but it'll have to wait until I have the time to do it.

Another side effect is that many of the custom features I had written into the database are missing, as well, which completely cripples the software this site runs on. There will be much settling of dust, errors and frustration.

If you haven't done so today, go make a backup of whatever data is important to you.

Update: (16 June, 2006) I've started rebuilding the database from Google's cache. It's proving to be tedious.

Update: (19 June, 2006) I've restored what I can from Google's cache. Some articles and all are still missing, but I'm ok with that.
