Back in April, I stumbled upon the Amazon pre-order page for the new Ajax Design Patterns book from O'Reilly. A few days later I placed my order with an estimated arrival date of June 9.
I waited patiently for June to arrive when I realized I should have received the book already - it was June 28. I had Amazon customer support call me (that's how it works: they call you, I swear), and the rep explained to me they didn't have any idea when they'd receive the book and the best estimate they could give me is somewhere between July 30 and August 15.
I next headed over to the O'Reilly site to see if I could get it straight from the publisher, and I found it backordered with no estimate of availability.
Update (5 July, 2006) This morning I woke up to a wonderful suprise. It seems Amazon now has Ajax Design Patterns in stock, and is shipping the item starting today. One week after Amazon had no reasonable idea when they would have this book in stock, it will arrive at my doorstep.
